We often get asked how Bar Connections got started - where the idea came from. Considering that we are both transplanted Canadians and ex-accountants, it was a bit of a journey from working in an office in Canada to creating a 'Bar Shop' in Australia. While there was lots of adventure along the way, it actually happened in two steps.

Our original plan was to work our way around the world as accountants. That led us to the Land Down Under.

We then decided to get out of the rat race. We conceded, the rats won! We went into business for ourselves. In starting a new business, we wanted to create a fun place to shop and a fun place to work. In Australia, a 'Bar Shop' was a natural. And who in the world has more fun than Aussies? And so, in 1992, Bar Connections (the bricks and mortar shop) was created.

In 1995, we set up the original barconnections.com. Over the years, we have upgraded and changed the site a number of times, adding more products and streamlining the ordering process.

In May 2002, we sold the bricks and mortar Bar Connections shop so that we can dedicate more time to barconnections.com. We are very grateful to all of our loyal customers that helped make this dream come true.
